The University of Westminster’s Project Management MSc course has secured re-accreditation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) - Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) until 2029, becoming the only course in England and one of three courses in the UK with this recognition.

The reviewers looked at extensive evidence and talked to staff, professional services and alumni as well as rating the course across multiple areas. The programme mission, which is clearly defined and supported by objectives, is thoroughly aligned with PMI’s standards. Moreover, the programme received a rating of Distinguished, which denotes practices that surpass expectations, show quality, creativity and innovation, and contribute to sustainable best practices in areas related to curriculum, staff, and student support.

This professional accreditation means that Westminster graduates are now granted substantial credit toward the experience requirement when they complete an application for any PMI certification. Students also have access to PMI professional development resources such as online courses, career seminars, materials, including their newly developed AI tool for project management called Infinity. Besides, they have opportunities to network with project professionals during PMI events, some of which are regularly hosted at the University.

The Westminster course is not only accredited by the PMI, but also by the Association for Project Management (APM), making the course at Westminster Business School the only programme in England that is doubly accredited by the two globally leading professional bodies for project management. This double-accreditation gives students more graduate opportunities.

Course leader Dr Dania Issa said: “We are proud that our Master's programme has accreditation from two globally leading professional bodies: the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Association for Project Management (APM). This prestigious recognition underscores our commitment to providing top-tier education and aligns us with the highest standards in project management education. We look forward to continuing to equip our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this dynamic field.”

This course directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4: Quality Education and 17: Partnerships for Goals. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
