The article outlined how the UK government recently blocked two Channel 4 directors from re-joining the broadcaster’s board. In the article, Professor Barnett spoke about the interference of ministers, which he described as “really quite shocking” and called on ministers to explain the rationale for their latest decision.

He added: “This is a channel which is required by statute to have regard to diversity and has a very proud record of doing just that…For Channel 4 of all organisations to end up with an all-white board is, to put it mildly, very unfortunate.”
