Professor Steven Barnett, Professor of Communications, has been quoted in an article published by Bloomberg about the problems with the UK’s coronavirus response.
On 24 March, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that 250,000 people a day would be tested for coronavirus. However, three weeks later this figure is far off. The British government have been criticised for their response to the virus being over-optimism and under-delivery.
Professor Barnett said that the danger for Johnson is that people lose faith in the government’s pledges. He added: “There’s no point in chasing good headlines, because there will be pain down the road.”
Professor Barnett’s comment has also been published in the Telegraph Online and Yahoo News (UK).
