Professor Michael Neuman, Professor of Sustainable Urbanism at the University of Westminster, has been invited to be an author in the third Assessment Report on Climate Change and Cities (ARC3.3).
The Urban Climate Change Research Network’s (UCCRN) ARC3 report series will address the climate risks, adaptation, mitigation, and policy mechanisms relevant to cities. The assessment will also express urban climate risk frameworks and climate science for cities, and derive policy implications for crucial urban sectors, including water, energy, transportation, sanitation and public health, as well as the systemic issues of land use and governance.
ARC3.3 will be published by Cambridge University Press as a series of reports, involving authors from various countries around the world, between 2021 to 2023. Each report will look at a key aspect of urban climate change, including nature-based solutions, urban planning and design, data and the role of technology, climate governance, and more. Professor Neuman will contribute to the ‘Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design Element’ section of the report, where he will provide key data, figures, and tables and contribute to one or more case studies.
Talking about the report, Professor Neuman said: “The third edition of the ARC3 report promises to be the most global, comprehensive, up-to-date and influential yet. Its distinguished editors and contributing authors comprise a who’s who in the fight against climate change. It is an honour to be invited and strive to make a difference.”
