Professor Catherine Loveday, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, was interviewed by The List to discuss why playing a musical instrument is beneficial to improving brain health.
The article discusses how musical training can change our brain structure for the better as it improves long-term memory and sensory processes, whilst also aiding in multitasking and integrating information from various sensory points.
In the article, Professor Loveday said: “Music reaches parts of the brain that other things can't… it's a strong cognitive stimulus that grows the brain in a way that nothing else does, and the evidence that musical training enhances things like working memory and language is very robust.”
