The Student Mobility team have announced the launch of the Global Experience Bursary, a new funding scheme at the University of Westminster supporting students in gaining international experience.
The Global Experience Bursary is a new funding scheme at Westminster, designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in undertaking short-term study, research, work or volunteering opportunities abroad. It has been put in place to ensure that all students, regardless of their programme of study or their personal situation, can receive support to help them achieve an international experience.
Mindful of the fact that not all students are able to commit to longer term semester or year-long opportunities abroad, the Student Mobility team established the scheme to help increase the number of students realising their international ambitions through short-term mobility.
The funding available covers a range of international activities including: summer schools; language programmes; research projects; work placements; volunteering opportunities; self-led fieldwork activities; and virtual global opportunities.
Funding will depend on the duration and location of the opportunity. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis, with a final deadline of 11.59pm on Sunday 3 July.
Owain Evans, the Student Mobility Manager, commented on the new funding scheme: “The Global Experience Bursary is in place to provide funding support to students undertaking short-term global opportunities over the summer. The bursary recognises the importance and value of short-term mobility in terms of the benefits and impact on participants. One such example is the development of skills and the subsequent enhancement of employability.
Since we launched, we have received applications from students at all levels, undertaking an exciting array of opportunities from volunteering in Fiji to joining a summer school in South Korea. We hope that students, regardless of their situation will consider applying to the bursary to support their own international experiences this summer.”
