Mykaell Riley, Senior Lecturer and Director for The Black Music Research Unit (BMRU), was quoted in an article by The Face about why people like the singer Adele’s voice so much.
The article hears from several experts about Adele’s singing style and vocal techniques and examines her ability to connect emotionally with listeners through her music.
Speaking about Adele’s voice, Mykaell is quoted as saying: “Adele’s voice is not unlike the instrument of the snake charmer. It has an ability to take charge and control your deepest, darkest emotions.”
Discussing when Adele is heard at her best, Mykaell also tells The Face: “Adele’s voice is best heard raw without the clutter of heavy instrumentation.”
