The 30 To Watch: Young Journalist Awards are organised by PR firms MHP and Mischief, recognising the most talented and influential young journalists across the UK. The awards, which have been running for 10 years, acknowledge ground-breaking work in the media industry, celebrating those working in the field including reporters, editors and producers.

There are 12 categories in the awards including news, city and business, culture, entertainment and lifestyle, financial and consumer affairs, health, international affairs, politics, tech, social media and content, photography, campaigns and investigations, and depolarisation, a new award added this year. They are judged by some of the biggest names in news, with this year’s panel being chaired by Former Director of News at the BBC and now Professor of Journalism at Cardiff University School of Journalism Richard Sambrook.

Manisha Ganguly was recently named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Media and Marketing in Europe as a media innovator for her impactful investigative journalism for the BBC, working on the Arabic Documentaries team as the lead open-source investigator.

She specialises in using open-source technology to document and expose human rights abuses in conflict zones. Her documentaries have exposed war crimes in Libya and Syria, human trafficking in the Middle East and uncovered the training of the killers of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Her films have been nominated for and won many international awards, including the Amnesty Award for her film ‘Idlib Double Tap’, illuminating her success in the industry.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in how automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and open-source technology can be used in investigative journalism, funded by the Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI) at the University of Westminster.

Talking about her achievement, Manisha said: “I am immensely thankful to MHP and Mischief PR for this award, and honoured that they have chosen me for this award two years in a row!”
