Law alumnus Shaheen Mamun has been listed by EqualityX as one of the Top 100 Influential Muslims for Championing and Celebrating Diversity, which also ranks him as one of the top 10 Influential Muslims for the Legal Sector.
The EqualityX list of 100 Influential Muslims for Championing and Celebrating Diversity celebrates Muslims in the UK who actively further and support diversity in their industry. The list is composed of 100 influential Muslims across ten industries. Shaheen was one of the top 10 people chosen for the legal sector.
Shaheen has worked tirelessly throughout his career to champion and celebrate diversity in the legal sector. Shaheen is an Equality Diversity and Inclusion committee member for the Law Society of England and Wales and works as on one of their Social Mobility Ambassadors. Shaheen is also the Strategic Partnership lead at the Muslim Employment Charter, which aims to help employers better accommodate the needs of Muslim professionals in the workplace.
Since graduating from Westminster in 2014, Shaheen has worked in many capacities across the legal field. Shaheen now manages his own law firm, Black Antelope Law, which has been recognised for its outstanding performance in Immigration. He has recently joined Diversify, a recruitment agency that specialises in connecting employers with underrepresented communities, as their Diversity, Equality and Inclusion lead.
Speaking about the award, Shaheen said: “Success is not solely measured by personal accomplishments, but by the ability to empower and uplift others. Being listed as one of the Top 100 Influential Muslims for Championing and Celebrating Diversity, and ranked among the Top 10 Influential Muslims in the Legal Industry by EqualityX, is a humbling recognition of the collective effort to promote inclusivity and justice. I attribute this achievement to the invaluable support and nurturing environment provided by the University of Westminster. Their commitment to fostering academic excellence and embracing diversity has been instrumental in shaping my journey and enabling me to make a meaningful impact.
