Between 14 – 18 November, the Student Mobility team ran a week of events to showcase the global opportunities available to Westminster students.

The International Education Week included sessions on international study, work and volunteering placements as well as short-term global opportunities and funding available to support those. Information sessions were also delivered by global partner institutions and organisations.

During the week, the Student Mobility team visited the five main sites of the University to encourage and inspire students to follow in the footsteps of previous participants, who have developed skills and enhanced their employability through international activities.

Starting on Monday, the team set up information stands at the main campuses where students could find out more about their available options.

They held the Think Pacific Information Session on Tuesday, for students to learn about volunteering opportunities in Fiji.

On Wednesday, a virtual Short-Term Mobility Information Session was organised, spreading knowledge about short-term global opportunities and the funding available to support. On the same day students who were interested in studying or working abroad for the 2023-24 academic year could join the Exchanges and Placements Information Session.

During the Returners’ Event on Thursday, students who completed an international opportunity in the 2021-22 academic year, had a chance to celebrate their achievements and reflect on the skills they developed abroad. This was followed by an International Social, bringing together recent returners as well as students studying abroad at Westminster. The week ended with a virtual Exchanges and Placements Information Session on studying and working abroad in the 2023-24 academic year.

Talking about the International Education Week, Owain Evans, Student Mobility Manager, said: “It was fantastic to see so many students across the week and spread the word about the range of global opportunities available at Westminster. While there was a focus on exchanges, with the exchange application for students wishing to study abroad in 2023-24 opening shortly, the week also provided the team with a chance to remind students of the other global opportunities we support as well as the many benefits of international experience.

“Given the challenges in meeting students face to face over the last few years, the international social was a particularly enjoyable event, with students coming together to celebrate the benefits of international education as well as stories of their own global experiences,” he added.
