The event was organised by the co-chairs of the University of Westminster student Law Society and was held on 20 April at the University’s Little Titchfield Street site. Lubna shared her extensive knowledge of the legal sector and gave the students a deeper understanding of how the Law Society works, as well as discussing her personal experiences and the challenges of representation in law.

Lubna was able to share her wisdom and advice gleaned from her decades of legal experience with current Westminster students as they navigate their studies and begin to think about their upcoming careers. Beginning her career as a solicitor in 1992, Lubna is dual qualified as a Civil and Family Mediator and she mediates all types of cases including contentious probate, property issues, contractual disputes, divorce, child access and employment problems.

She joined the Law Society as a Council Member for Sole Practitioners in 2013, and was the Chair of the Law Society's Membership and Communications Committee for three years. She is also a member of the Law Society's Board and a member of the Birmingham Law Society Council. Lubna became the first Asian, first Muslim and seventh female President of the Law Society of England and Wales in 2022.

Speaking about the event, Lubna said: “It was wonderful to be back at my old university again, where my journey into law first began. I am so grateful to the University for giving me the opportunity to study law. I never expected back then, over 30 years ago, that I would end up becoming President of the Law Society of England and Wales. It has been an amazing journey and it was a pleasure to share my experiences, tips and advice with Law students who are at the start of their journeys.”
