Carl Jones, Senior Lecturer in the School of Media and Communications at the University of Westminster, has been selected to choose the best young creative talent to compete on behalf of the UK against other young advertising professionals from around the world in the Film, Print, Digital and Media competitions at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025.

The UK Young Lions competition is a highly competitive platform that recognises the brightest young creative minds in advertising. The winners will be announced during the week of 17 March 2025 and the selected teams will go on to represent the UK in the Global Young Lions Competition at the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival in June. This competition provides young professionals with a global stage to showcase their talent, competing against the best emerging creatives from around the world. Representing the Advertising Association UK, the official UK representative for Cannes Lions, Jones will play a key role in evaluating the work of students across the UK and decide who will present in the festival in June.
In addition to his role at Cannes Lions, Carl Jones has also been appointed as a juror for the AdForum PHNX 2025 Awards, where he will judge international categories such as Public Relations and Charity Advertising. With over 25 years of experience judging major global advertising competitions, including the Clios, American Advertising Awards and London International Awards, Jones brings a wealth of expertise to these prestigious events.
Reflecting on his selection, Carl Jones said: “Advertising is a growing business with new platforms released regularly and being selected for this role offers a unique opportunity to discover and nurture the next generation of creative talent, and I look forward to witnessing the innovative ideas that will shape the future of our industry.”
Jones' extensive experience and commitment to fostering young talent continue to make a significant impact on the global advertising landscape, ensuring that the next generation of creatives receives the recognition and guidance needed to thrive in the industry.
