Dr Dennys-McClure met with Felix at the Cavendish Campus to enquire about his welfare and hear more about his journey to becoming a Chevening scholar. Felix showed him around the campus and its specialist laboratories, libraries and facilities, which he aims to make a good use of during his studies.

Talking about the visit, Felix said: “I was thrilled and honoured to receive the British High Commissioner of my country Cameroon, His Excellency, Dr Christian Dennys-McClure. I received a special gift from the High Commissioner, an umbrella, which he reminded me to always make use of during rainy mornings or rainy days in order not to miss my classes. I was so excited to receive this gift.”

Felix is a tech entrepreneur and innovator, who is passionate about solving problems around his community with the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), while inspiring the younger generation of Cameroon to pursue their goals in the field of ICT. Felix is the Founder and Lead Developer of Cameroon GCE Guide App, an innovative platform that provides students preparing for their GCE examinations across Cameroon with easily accessible resources and quality education. He is also the Founder of Light-Gate Solutions, a high-tech start-up, helping individuals and groups to explore the advantages of the digital age and to outsource IT services, such as mobile app development, website design, hardware maintenance and consultancy to the public.

As a student of the Cyber Security and Forensics MSc course, Felix is keen to gain knowledge and practical expertise to design and build advanced secure and privacy-preserving systems ranging from household devices to large critical infrastructures. He also aims to understand the nature of security threats that face computer systems today, and the principles underpinning practical approaches to cyber defence in response to cyber-attacks in Cameroon’s cyberspace.

Chevening is the UK Government's global scholarship programme offering awards to outstanding future leaders around the world to undertake fully funded postgraduate studies in the UK. Candidates come from over 110 countries worldwide, with the University of Westminster hosting on average around 30 Chevening scholars each year.

Talking about the scholarship, Felix said: “I am thrilled to be amongst the two per cent selected out of over 58,000 applicants from around the globe, and to be one of the five scholars selected from Cameroon in a keenly competitive selection process that lasted over 12 months. I remain motivated and committed to making my entire nation Cameroon Proud, my prestigious school and the British High Commission to Cameroon.”
