Guest speaker Tashi Shillingford, Senior Account Director at M&C Saatchi and alumna of the Business Management (Marketing) BA Honours course, discussed her career journey as a global brand partnerships marketer as part of the What it Takes to Deliver Global Brand Partnerships online event on 12 October.
Tashi Shillingford spoke about her career journey as a global brand partnerships marketer delivering successful global brand partnerships at M&C Saatchi and Universal Music, as well as working in marketing roles for Amazon and O2. She also covered current trends in the industry and what it takes to deliver successful brand partnerships and gave advice on how to create impactful and meaningful global-to-local partnerships.
The event was organised in partnership with the Westminster Enterprise Network and was attended by 83 Westminster students and recent graduates. Tashi’s talk was full of useful tips on managing partnership processes from end-to-end; from finding the right brand partners and talent that fit a client brief to delivering campaigns at a global-to-local scale. Following the talk, a Q&A session was led by Nic Sanders, Senior Lecturer and Director of Employability SMM at the University of Westminster.
The event received positive feedback. An attendee praised the "great insights given" and the opportunity to "hear the ins and outs of the business." Another audience member said: "I really appreciated the speaker’s personal bio in the beginning of the talk and the frankness of their experience within the sector has really given me some insight and some confidence in approaching this sector."
James Huke, Alumni Officer at the University of Westminster, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Tashi for kicking off our What it Takes series for the new academic year. It was an inspiring talk with lots of great advice. Thank you also to Nic Sanders for hosting and managing the many questions that came in during the Q&A session.”
