Natalie Malcolm, who graduated from the Radio and Digital Production BA course at the University of Westminster, presented her future dance special show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
Natalie covered the BBC Music Introducing show over the New Year period, creating a show around dance music, which is one of her biggest passions. BBC Music Introducing, which launched in 2007, is a show that is dedicated to discovering and supporting new artists and music. Through the show, Natalie was given the opportunity to give local dance producers and DJs from where she lives in Peterborough a platform to promote and play their tracks.
Natalie has worked as a freelance Broadcast Assistant at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire since March 2019 and has worked at other stations and on various projects at the same time, such as putting together demos from dance shows that she presents for her community station VIBE 107.6FM. She then started sending demos to her boss at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire as they were looking to target a younger audience on their evening shows. After receiving feedback and working on it, she received her first cover show.
Talking about presenting the BBC Music Introducing show, Natalie said: “I was really nervous as I just wanted to do the show justice and make everyone proud. Once the first link went out it all started to feel real and I relaxed into it. The two hours flew by with top quality dance tracks, several interviews and a big reveal of a local record label launching. The hard work and sleepless nights certainly paid off. It was an absolute blast to be able to present a local dance show and showcase the talent we have, it was so much fun.”
