University of Westminster alumna Dr Nancy Papalexandris has been announced as a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Study UK Alumni Awards 2020.
The British Council’s Study UK Alumni Awards celebrate the achievements of international alumni and showcase the impact and value of UK higher education. This year, Greece are hosting the awards.
Greece are one of the two pilot countries that are presenting the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognises alumni who studied at a university in the UK over 15 years ago and have contributed to relations between the UK and Greece.
Dr Nancy Papalexandris is Professor Emeritus in Human Resource Management at the Athens University of Economics and Business and previously worked as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. She is currently teaching on the joint Master’s programme with Kent University, while continuing to undertake research in her field of expertise.
Dr Papalexandris has encouraged exchanges and organised joint seminars and student visits from universities in the UK to Athens. She is a representative of the Greek Rectors conference in the European University Association, where she has participated in numerous UK initiatives for quality assessment in higher education.
Talking about Papalexandris' achievement, David Brooks, Alumni Relations Officer for Alumni Experience, said: "It's fantastic that the many achievements of Dr Nancy Papalexandris are being recognised in this way. As well as her remarkable academic career, her commitment to encouraging students to travel and experience other cultures is commendable and in line with what we continue to offer students at Westminster today."
The winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced at the Alumni Awards Ceremony in October, where they will receive a return ticket to London, sponsored by Aegean Airlines. Applications for the Study UK Alumni Awards are open from the 2 September to all alumni from the last 15 years who now live outside the UK.
