Eid al-Adha, also known as ‘The Festival of Sacrifice’, is the second of the two official holidays of Eid celebrated by the Muslim community. The holiday honours the Quranic tale of the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of obedience to God.
The celebrations this year began in the UK in the evening of Saturday 9 July, and will end on the evening of Wednesday 13 July.
