The University of Westminster’s Africa Media Centre promotes collaborative research on African film, media, communication and social change, and often hosts conferences and guest lectures in London. The centre organised several events last year, including the African Film and Politics Conference, African Film and Social Change, Media and Elections in Africa Conference, and Documenting Africa: Creating Fact or Fiction through the Lens.
Entry requirements
Applying for a course
If you are interested in studying for a Bachelor's degree (eg a BA, BSc, BEng or LLB) at the University of Westminster, you will need to check that you meet our entry requirements.
We have included typical entry requirements below, but these are simply a guideline. Some courses may also have specific subject or grade requirements, which will be listed on individual course pages.
For entry into Year 1 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 4), you will typically need to have one of the following:
- General Certificate of Education Advanced Level
- a recognised International Foundation course from a UK institution following a validated UK syllabus. Entry requirements vary but we normally ask for between 60% and 65%
- Higher National Diploma – Upper Credit or Distinction
For possible entry into Year 2 of Bachelor's degrees (Level 5), you will typically need to have the following:
- University Diploma (CGPA of 3.0+)

Applying for a course

You will typically need to have one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree with a CGPA 2.51/4.0 (2.0/4.0 post-2013) from a recognised Ghanaian institution. Students applying for postgraduate courses requiring a UK 2:1 degree will need a CGPA 3.25/4.0 (3.0/4.0 post-2013), and those applying for a course requiring a UK First Class degree will need a CGPA of 3.75/4.0 (3.6/4.0 post-2013).
- a degree from a recognised Ghanaian university may be accepted as evidence of English proficiency for some of our postgraduate programmes (with the exception of Master's courses in Life Sciences)

Qualification verification
As part of the international admissions process, you may be required to verify your academic qualifications. You can complete this step by using the University's Qualifications Checker Portal to meet this offer condition. There is no charge to use this service and once your qualifications have been verified you will receive official notification.
