The University of Westminster presents a walking tour of London arts venues, revealing secret spaces, secret histories and secret projects.
We will be taking a one-hour walk through central London, beginning on Little Titchfield Street, and taking place from 1-2pm on 16, 17 and 18 November.
As well as learning about the artistic history of the area, participants will be led to the doorstep of lesser known venues which faced particular struggles during the pandemic. The experience will be interwoven with performed extracts of newly commissioned poetry inspired by interviews conducted with arts professionals during lockdown. The event, produced in collaboration with poetry collective Live Canon, marks a joyful return of culture and performance to the capital’s streets. On the afternoon of 18 November, the University of Westminster will also be hosting an online talk with its creators.
A filmed version of the walk will be made available and the newly commissioned poems, performed on the tour, will also be produced in a printed pamphlet.
This Being Human event is part of the National Lottery Funded ‘Soho Poly Project’, a campaign dedicated to the full restoration of the Soho Poly, once one of London’s most important post-war alternative theatres. For further information visit our Restoring the Soho Poly page.
