About this event

Migration research grant writing workshop series, co-organised by HOMELandS (Hub on Migration, Exile, Languages and Spaces), the Research and Knowledge Exchange Office and the Arts, Communication and Culture Research Community.

Schedule as follows:

  • Outline workshop purpose: Focusing your expertise in migration to identify a good funding match
  • Context: Overview of work + themes on migration which have emerged at the University of Westminster – building on Many Faces of Migration: An Interdisciplinary Unconference
  • External landscape: what are the different sources of funding and what are certain funders priorities relevant to migration?
  • Examples of impactful projects, activities and strategic partnerships in the field
  • Identifying where there is potential / opportunities for UoW to respond to progress in the field
  • BREAK CHALLENGE: where do your ideas fit in to this context? Where could you make the most impact?
  • 15 minute break/thinking time
  • What makes our collective expertise on migration at UoW unique?
  • DISCUSSION: Are your research questions completely novel / a new area or are you looking to build upon existing work?
  • Collaborative partnerships to maximise impact and opportunities . Networking and partnering with other established leaders in the field (incl academic resources (online presence/social media/websites/mailing lists))
  • Tips for identifying organisations with shared vison and goals feat. Intro to stakeholder mapping
