We invite you to participate in this interactive workshop to explore how academia can engage with the public in co-producing research.

The University of Westminster emphasises the importance of building and nurturing relationships between researchers, participants, and other stakeholders throughout the research process, fostering trust and collaboration for more meaningful and impactful outcomes. Join us as we explore innovative ways to collaborate with the community in research projects. This in-person event will bring experts from various fields and community leaders to share their insights and experiences on activities that promote research co-production and co-creation.
Who are we looking for?
We invite members of the public and patient groups who are willing to share their opinions and discuss their experiences collaborating on research projects. Through interactive activities, we aim to create a roadmap to facilitate closer collaboration between researchers and diverse communities in the co-design and co-production of research.
What can you expect?
The interactive workshop will consist of a series of guided discussions focused on public involvement in research conducted by our university. Our activities will include:
- a) A storytelling session titled "Research in Real Life"
- b) Speed networking sessions to foster collaboration
- c) A mapping exercise for research collaboration called "From Idea to Dissemination"
- d) A co-design challenge named "The Ideal Research Partnership"
All activities will be interactive and designed to enhance our understanding of research co-design.
Hot/cold drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
What is the benefit of participating in this event?
Participating in this event will give you the opportunity to shape how researchers collaborate with communities, ensuring that research is more inclusive and impactful. It provides a platform to connect with researchers and other community members, fostering new partnerships and influencing future studies. We also offer a voucher worth £50 to all members of the public participating in this event as a 'thank you' for their contribution (subject to approval by the event host).
