Celebration event to mark the launch of the new FemIDEAS website and publication of a new report from The 1752 Group.
About this event
Join us to mark the launch of the new FemIDEAS website and the publication of a new report from The 1752 Group with North-South Feminist Dialgoues: Silencing Sexual and Gender-based Violence Misconduct in Academia and Politics of Naming.
This report marks the third instalment of the North-South Feminist Dialogues series, led by Adrija Dey. It reports on two webinars held in March 2024, aiming to foster transnational discussion about the politics and risks of naming perpetrators of SGBV in HE. These discussions examined the theme of silencing SGBV in academia through two lenses: naming perpetrators, and challenges in academic publishing about sexual violence. The report summarises key points from both discussions.
FemIDEAS is a UKRI-funded research project at the University of Westminster focusing on developing survivor-centred, feminist, intersectional, and abolitionist approaches to address sexual and gender-based violence in higher education. This project aims to connect theory, policy, and practice by bringing together insights from survivors, activists, academics, and policymakers from across South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, and Argentina.
The 1752 Group is a UK-based research, consultancy and campaign organisation dedicated to ending sexual misconduct in higher education.
The evening will be an informal, in-person event (see location details below). Vegan snacks and refreshments will be provided and everyone is welcome!
