About the event

The University of Westminster is pleased to host His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho for a celebration of 200 years of the Kingdom of Lesotho and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for academic cooperation between the University’s Centre for the Study of Democracy and National University of Lesotho’s Moshoeshoe Institute of Peace and Leadership.

The event will welcome a delegation from Lesotho including His Majesty, Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs Lejone Mpotjoane, Honourable Minister for Energy Nqosa Mahao, Honourable Minister for Natural Resources Mohlomi Moleko, and His Excellency High Commissioner Nehemia Sekhonyana Bereng. They will join Harry MacDonald, British High Commissioner to Lesotho to commemorate the strong and abiding friendship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

  • 6pm: Arrival of the delegation
  • 6.05pm: Opening and welcome by Professor Nitasha Kaul, Director, Centre for the Study of Democracy and Harry MacDonald, British High Commissioner to Lesotho
  • 6.15pm Address by the esteemed guests from Lesotho (His Majesty King Letsie III, Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs Lejone Mpotjoane, HE High Commissioner Bereng)
  • 6.45pm: Closing remarks by Professor Peter Bonfield (Vice-Chancellor and President) and Professor Dibyesh Anand (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global Engagement and Employability)
  • 6.50pm: MOU signing ceremony
  • 7pm: Networking reception
