For students

Both undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Westminster are eligible to apply. The programme is open to students from all courses and faculties.

 

Applications open annually in September and February. Keep an eye on the Student Ambassador programme page for updates and specific application dates.
 

As an Ambassador, you will assist with university events, lead campus tours, provide peer mentoring, support academic departments, and represent the university at external outreach activities.

The programme offers flexible working hours that fit around your studies. You can choose shifts that suit your schedule, making it easy to balance work and academic commitments.

All Ambassadors undergo mandatory training that covers the programme structure, professional conduct, communication skills, event management, and a comprehensive overview of campus facilities and services. Additional training is provided for specific job opportunities when required.

As a Student Ambassador, you’ll gain valuable skills in communication, leadership, and time management, build a professional network, earn money while studying, and receive recognition for your contributions.

Applications can be submitted online during the application period. You'll need to provide details about your academic background, interests, and any relevant experience. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.

The interview will assess your enthusiasm for the role, communication skills, and ability to represent the university’s values. You may be asked scenario-based questions to evaluate your problem-solving abilities and readiness for the role.

For recruiters (internal teams and departments)

Currently, only internal university departments can hire Student Ambassadors.

Ambassadors can assist with event support, campus tours, student engagement initiatives, academic support, and outreach activities. Their flexibility allows them to be utilised in various roles depending on the needs of your department.

To recruit a Student Ambassador, complete the Student Ambassador recruitment form for stakeholders and contact the Ambassador Programme Team at for further assistance.

It’s recommended to start the recruitment process at least one week before your event or project to allow adequate time for planning and coordination. You can contact the team directly for urgent events.

Yes. All Student Ambassadors recruited for an opportunity need to be paid a minimum of 2 hours for in-person or 1 hour for virtual events/jobs.

All Ambassadors undergo comprehensive training that covers the programme structure, professional conduct, communication skills, event management, and knowledge of campus facilities and services. This ensures they are well-prepared to represent the university effectively.

Information on any costs associated with hiring Ambassadors can be provided by the Ambassador Programme Team. Typically, the costs are covered by the department that engages the Ambassadors.
