As winter sets in, and against the backdrop of rising prices, we have been continuing to work hard to bring measures into place to support you and ensure that our campus buildings are welcoming sanctuaries where you will feel safe and warm over the winter months.
‘Winter warmer’ discounts and offers
From Monday 7 November, we are introducing ‘winter warmer’ discounts at our cafés and restaurants on campus to help you enjoy comforting and cost-effective meals together throughout the winter period. This includes:
- Breakfast – free porridge and filter coffee or tea between 8am and 9:15am at Harrow, Marylebone, 115 NCS and Regent Street
- Lunch – £3 lunch deals available from 12pm at Harrow, Marylebone and 115 NCS
- Throughout the day – a range of other discounts on food and drinks across all sites
Please do drop into the campus cafés or restaurants and check local signage to see what’s on offer. To take advantage of these deals, simply show your University Student ID at the counter.
Your wellbeing
The cold weather and dark nights can also have an impact on our overall mood, health and wellbeing. One thing that can help is staying active, particularly in a social setting, so please remember to make use of our free Regent and Harrow gym facilities. You can also get involved in your Students’ Union ‘Dragons Active’ programme, which provides inclusive and welcoming sessions for those looking to try a new activity or to socialise in a fun, friendly environment.
Please also remember that there is a range of wellbeing resources and activities available to you, which you can find on your Student Hub or Students’ Union website. If you need support, please reach out to our student wellbeing services, which include counselling and mental health support.
Free sanitary products across all campuses
Together with your Students’ Union, the Women of Westminster colleague network and our Estates colleagues, we have been working to provide free women’s sanitary products at all of our campuses from mid-November.
Your Students’ Union’s Vice-President of Welfare Taruna Bangia, in particular, is helping us deliver this initiative, as part of her manifesto’s objectives. The details of how and where products will be made available are being finalised and will be announced very soon via your Students’ Union platforms as well as via your Student Hub, so please do keep an eye on these channels for more information.
Financial support for students experiencing hardship
We are introducing an additional targeted financial assistance scheme to support students experiencing hardship as a result of the recent increase in the cost of living. This new fund will be open later this month to all undergraduate and postgraduate taught students and our PhD community – including both home and international students. Full details of how to apply will be made available at the end of November.
