Report and Support Platform
Our Report and Support platform for students to report and receive support for unwanted behaviours launched in January 2021. This was developed as a partnership between the Student and Academic Services, Students’ Union and Cultureshift. The portal aligns with our core values - enabling a responsible, progressive and compassionate response to student concerns and creating a safer and stronger community for students to flourish.
Students can choose whether to report anonymously or to provide their details. Our support team offers assistance to students who wish to identify themselves. The anonymous option enables students to access guidance resources and to highlight issues of concern whilst also providing an opportunity for the University to track trends in reporting issues and develop plans to address them.
Alongside the reporting feature, students can also access resources and articles on a wide range of topics and support services, so that they can access information independently. These are organised into four areas:
- Bullying and Harassment
- Discrimination
- Hate Crime
- Sexual Abuse Support
Additionally, you can access additional support through the Support and Services section on the Student Hub and you can contact the UWSU Advice Service for free and confidential advice, which is independent to the University.
Green Dot Active Bystander training
The University is proud to be the first UK organisation to run the Green Dot Active Bystander Intervention training programme, organised by the Student Support Development Team and delivered by a team of trainers from the University and the Students’ Union (UWSU). The Green Dot programme aims to change culture within organisations to prevent harassment. It equips students and colleagues with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to identify, intervene in and report incidents of power -based harassment and violence - and to challenge inappropriate behaviours.
The Programme has involved close to 1000 members of the University community since 2018 and has recently been embedded in the University’s Employability Award, enabling students to gain credits and take their awareness into the workplace.
