If you’re studying for a University of Westminster award at one of our partner institutions, your course handbook will detail the services and support you can expect from your education provider or host institution.
You will also have access to additional resources and services at the University of Westminster, as follows.
- Entitlement to University Library and IT services is broadly the same for students on courses at partner institutions which lead to University of Westminster awards as for students based at the University. However, some services are restricted due to legal, licensing, funding or operational practicalities; this applies especially to electronic journals
- Students at partner institutions on courses leading to University of Westminster awards will normally have access to the following:
- A University computing account, with access to the University’s Google email account
- PCs or MACs plus a UniPurse account for printing and photocopying
- The Internet, Intranet, SRSWeb, FileLinX and Blackboard
- University wireless network
- A range of assistive technology and associated networked software (including JAWS screen reader, Microsoft Magnifier, Mind Genius, Kurzweil and Zoomtext)
- Past exam papers through Blackboard
- University Library account
- The online library catalogue
- Free e-resources
- The site-based library services and resources, including books, journals, DVDs
- Library study space and facilities at all University libraries
- Borrowing rights for up to fifteen books at a time from any of the University libraries
- Reservation of books for collection at any of the University libraries and return to any of the University libraries
- Individual membership of the national library Sconul Access scheme.
- As clarified at the meeting of Teaching, Learning and Student Support Committee (26 January 2011), Student Services at the University can offer to students at the partner institutions on courses leading to University of Westminster awards the following additional support
- The Career Development Centre can offer access to:
- Information on part-time jobs and other opportunities on the Prospects Net Vacancy database. Registration for Prospects Net ONLY
- Careers advice online - guidance (for part-time students only)
- The Counselling Service can offer:
- Online resources
- Access to group counselling sessions for students registered on University of Westminster courses at partner institutions, which will be considered, by referral on a case-by-case basis, by the Head of Counselling
- Out of Hours counselling is available from Student Night Line, on 020 7631 0101
- The Equality Act 2010 requires that institutions running courses on their premises are responsible for making the premises and their courses accessible. This includes the provision of support such as advising disabled students, providing specialist study skills support, and ensuring that students on their courses know who they can go to within the institution for this advice and support
- Most courses are delivered within the partner institutions. Some music courses and teaching courses (run via Westminster Exchange) have some delivery at the University. In these cases, disabled students can be supported by Disability Learning Support while they are on the University premises

- The Student Advice Team can offer to students at the partner institutions, on courses which lead to University of Westminster awards, the following:
- Funding and benefit advice to students eligible to apply for the University of Westminster Access to Learning Fund
- Online resources covering finance, budgeting, visa and other areas.
