Funding for student projects and businesses

Are you looking to kickstart a business or set up a new project?

There are a number of University funds that you can apply to, to help you develop your project or business or buy the equipment you need.

Funding opportunities

Ignite Fund

The Ignite Fund gives students the chance to develop a business idea, buy equipment that may help their final project, or take advantage of a professional development opportunity that will help them stand out to employers.

  • Funding available: Up to £1,500
  • Who can apply: Current undergraduate and postgraduate students on a full-time or part-time course
  • Fund opening times: September and February

WeNetwork funds

WeNetwork provides financial support for early-stage entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals looking to start a project, side-hustle or business. Secure funding by participating in the Start-up 101 or Freelance Essentials programmes, the Big Idea competition, or the Elevate business support programme.

  • Funding available : Between £250 and £5,000
  • Eligibility: Current students and recent graduates

Global Experience Bursary

The Global Experience Bursary supports undergraduate and postgraduate students in undertaking short-term study, research, work or volunteering opportunities abroad over the summer.

Applications open during Semester 2.
