The University of Westminster offers a global education experience. Each year, we welcome students of more than 160 different nationalities to our community.

We’d love you to join us too, and there’s still time to apply through Clearing.

If you’ve already found your perfect course you can apply now – visit our Clearing page to find out how.

Or you can search our Courses in Clearing page to find the course for you.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is part of the UK’s university application process. It helps students find and apply for a university place if they haven't already secured one.

If you're an international student looking to start an undergraduate course with us this September, you may be able to get a place through Clearing.

If you already have your results and you know which course you want to study, you can apply now! Find out how to apply on our Clearing page.

You can find a list of the courses available in Clearing on our Courses in Clearing page.

Please note, you can only apply through Clearing if you aren’t currently holding an offer in UCAS at another UK university. UCAS is the UK’s university application system.

See all courses in Clearing.

The list of courses available in Clearing changes regularly, so if you see a course you’d like to study, apply as soon as you can. Most UK students don't get their exam results until 15 August, so as an international student you may have an advantage if you already have your exam results. But remember, popular courses may fill up fast! More courses may be added later, so keep checking through the coming weeks.

If we make you an offer in clearing we'll confirm this in an email to you and give you a specified time period for you to accept the offer.

EU/EEA students apply through Clearing in the same way as other international or UK students. Find out more about visas and fee status for EU/EEA nationals.

Please visit our Fees and funding section for further details of tuition fees this year as well as our EU Qualifications Welcome Awards Scheme. This Scheme supports students starting their undergraduate course with us in September 2024 at level 3 (Foundation) or level 4 (first year), who are accepted on their programme based on an eligible EU qualification. It is important to note that eligibility for this award is not based on nationality, but on qualification.

Clearing is for undergraduate courses, but if you are a postgraduate applicant we are open for recruitment for September 2024 and January 2025 entry.

Find postgraduate courses and apply now.

Deadlines to apply for September programmes are normally open until mid August, but if you need to apply for a visa to study in the UK, you will need to allow time, so please find out more about postgraduate application deadlines.

Entry requirements are often given in terms of A Levels or IB scores, but we accept a wide range of international qualifications.

See your country page for guidance on qualifications we usually accept and an indication of grades, remembering that these may be different during the Clearing period. If you can’t find your qualifications, please contact us.

Individual course pages will tell you any additional entry requirements for the specific programme.

We work in partnership with a range of International Foundation providers, providing progression on to our degree programmes for those students from different education systems, or who are changing subject area and need support.

For these courses you do not need to use our Clearing form and can apply directly to our partners.

More information about University preparation courses.

If you need a Student visa to study at the University of Westminster then you will be required to study full-time. Further information about Student visas is available on our visas and advice pages.

On application you’ll receive an email with instructions for submitting a portfolio. Courses requiring a portfolio may take longer to reach a decision as the portfolio will need to be assessed.

For September 2024 entry, our standard undergraduate Bachelor's degrees will require IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each component, or an equivalent examination. Some courses may have different requirements which are listed under the entry requirements on the course page.

The University recognises a wide range of different English Qualifications such as Pearson PTE, LangCert, Skills for English, KITE, TOEFL and ELLT, as demonstrating proof of English language ability. This includes the English Language component of most EU/EEA high school qualifications, iGCSE, IB, HKDSE and some Indian Standard XII Boards. To find out more check our list of accepted English language exams or you can check your country page for requirements for your country.

Don’t have your English qualification yet?

If you have all your other results, but require an English exam and don’t yet have it, the University accepts a wide range of tests such as PASSWORD, KITE and Oxford ELLT that offer discounted rates for students applying to Westminster. These tests can be taken online.

For information about the full range of tests accepted visit our English language requirements pages.

If you wish to transfer to Westminster from another university and you want to join us in the second or third year of a degree, you cannot apply through Clearing. The process is slightly different for this type of application. Please contact us at and we can provide advice on the next steps.

We work with education agents in the UK and around the world. Please visit your country page for information about our authorised local agents. They will be able to assist you with your application and the visa process. Find out more about selecting the right agent.

Our country pages have contact details for our agents in your country who can help you to apply and support you through the visa process. Further information about Student visas is also available on our visas and advice pages.
