Course summary
This course enhances your theories of teaching and learning in a laboratory setting. We will look at the development of training sessions, assessment and feedback with links to fulfilling continued professional development (CPD) requirements. The course is an effective way to ensure that you meet and maintain IBMS training standards.
Who is this course for?
This course has been designed for biomedical scientists with training and mentoring roles in a laboratory. It especially offers a valuable source of support for new and prospective training officers.
The course is based around workshop sessions and group activities, creating an open forum for discussion where you can share issues, ideas and best-practice strategies.

Learning outcomes

Course information
Tutor
Vikki Moyse is an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist, and is currently Training Manager for HCA Healthcare UK Laboratories. She has experience as a Biomedical Scientist and laboratory manager in both NHS and non - NHS settings.
She has a special interest in training and development, particularly around IBMS qualifications, ISO 15189 compliance with regards to training and competence, and successfully implementing programs to support professional qualifications for laboratory staff.
Vikki is a Chartered Scientist, an IBMS Certificate of Competence Verifier and a Specialist Diploma Examiner. She is also a member of the IBMS Specialist Advisory Panel for Clinical Biochemistry and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy after completing an MSc in Clinical Education, which included a research project looking at post-registration training for biomedical scientists across the UK.
Accreditation
The course is registered as IBMS CPD approved professional activity. An attendance certificate will be issued and may be used for IBMS CPD purposes together with a reflective account of the session
