About me
Kiu Sum is a Doctoral Researcher in nutrition in the School of Life Sciences. With a BSc(Hons) and MRes in Human Nutrition, Kiu's research interest focuses on workplace nutrition, dietary behaviour and public health nutrition.
Kiu is a Registered Associate Nutritionist with the Association for Nutrition (AfN) and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Kiu is also the Chair of the Student Section at The Nutrition Society, an Associate Member and Chair of the South East Branch Committee of the Institute of Food Science and Technology, and the Student Officer at RAISE Network, of which she is also the Co-Convenor of the Engagement Assessment and the Early Career Researchers Special Interest Groups.
Teaching
Kiu is also a Visiting Lecturer within the Centre for Education, Teaching and Innovation, contributing to modules including Introduction to Academic Practice and Critical Thinking to life sciences undergraduates. In addition, she also contributes to the nutrition curriculum in ad-hoc lectures, specifically in public health nutrition, nutritional behaviour and physical activity.
Research
Kiu is an active early career researcher in nutrition, focusing on public health nutrition and workplace nutrition. She is also active in pedagogy research, focusing on student engagement and student partnerships in higher education.
