About me
Dr Prem Puwanenthiren joined Westminster University in 2019. Prior to this he worked at Roehampton University, and the La Trobe University, Australia. Prem earned his Ph.D. on Audit Quality and Financing decisions from La Trobe University, Australia in 2016 and holds an Masters of Business Administration degree from Kelaniya University, Sri Lanka in 2012. He is also member of CPA Australia.
Teaching
A senior lecturer and Fellow member of the Higher Education Academy, Prem’s teaching excellence has been recognised by previous employers on several occasions. His teaching interests lie in Audit Practice and Ethics, Advanced Financial Accounting and accounting information systems.
Research
Prem’s research interests include corporate governance, corporate financial reporting and disclosure, earnings management, accounting policy choice, harmonization of accounting and reporting practices, international accounting, financial statements fraud, audit quality and capital markets. He has published a number of papers in international referred journals including European Journal of Finance, Australian Journal of Management, International Review of Financial Analysis, Accounting & Finance and The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance. Prem has successfully supervised several Honours and Masters, and 1 PhD student. He has also acted as external examiners for number of PhD Theses.
Prem was also on the editorial board of Journal of Accounting and Business Management
