About me
While I started working at the Centre for Social Justice Research (CSJR) in October 2024, I have been working with the University in my role at INQUEST since 2022. I co-developed a student internship programme to support INQUEST's first heritage project (2022-2024). I have now joined the CSJR as Team Lead to coordinate it's broader work-based learning, knowledge exchange and community impact programme. In 2022, I finished an AHRC funded collaborative PhD with the British Library and UCL. Before that I completed a MA in World History and Cultures at King's College London (2017) and BA in History at the University of Leeds (2016).
Research
I am historian of modern Britain and the Caribbean with a specialist focus on radical publishing and the press as a tool of anti-colonial resistance. In recent years, I have shifted my research to state violence, community resistance and memorialisation in Britain since 1981. This research focus has come from leading on INQUEST's unique heritage and archive projects: Unlocking the Truth for 40 Years (June 2022-March 2024) and Unlocking the INQUEST archive: memorialising death and resistance (June 2024-December 2025).
