About me
Having worked at a range of Higher Education institutions since 2009, James has a diverse background in education and curriculum development, teaching, international student support, immigration law, contemporary Chinese studies and careers guidance.
As a Senior Lecturer in Curriculum Design, James now works to implement strategic priorities and embed innovative practice in curricula across the University of Westminster. Teaching on the PgCert HE, and being responsible for the intensive course design process, he is currently working with academic teams in the creation of new programmes and revalidation of existing courses.
Teaching
James leads the Design for Learning Module on the PgCert HE at the University of Westminster. Focusing on core tenets of curriculum design in UK Higher Education, this module introduces participants to models and approaches to curriculum design, constructive alignment, inclusive assessment and feedback practices, and quality assurance in HE.
Research
Research interests include: curriculum design and development; widening participation in HE; international student experience of HE; wellbeing of teaching staff; issues of social justice in HE; and examining experiences of Refugee Background Students in UK universities.
