About me

Jolel is a Health Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Psychologist on the British Psychological Society (BPS) register. He is also a board member of the British Psychological Society’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Jolel is deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and supporting student development. With experience in diverse environments, including the HMP prison service and founding a mental health charity, he is passionate about applying psychology to improve health outcomes within communities, students, and peers.

He studied at the University of Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and has served as a guest lecturer at the University of West London and the University of Buckingham. Jolel also taught at the University of Sunderland before joining the University of Westminster.

His research interests include exploring the role of psychosocial factors—such as motivation, emotion, and social influences—on physical activity behaviours, including engagement, adherence, and long-term maintenance. He is also interested in examining the relationship between the public and access to healthcare, focusing on the social, cultural, and psychological factors that influence individuals’ interactions with and navigating healthcare environments.

Teaching

Jolel's primary teaching focus is on Health Psychology. He teaches modules for both undergraduate (Health Psychology) and postgraduate programs (Health Psychology in Practice). Additionally, He contributes to various teaching sessions, including those for foundation students.
