About me
I am an architect, urban designer and doctoral researcher. My PhD research investigates the emerging field of digital placemaking, focusing on how digital placemaking facilitates co-creation of meaningful urban spaces and creation of place capital.
My professional experience over 10 years mainly includes architecture of high-rise residential buildings and urban design of mixed-use neighborhoods in various metro-cities in India and Singapore. My work at P&T Singapore have received international awards such as 'Asia Pacific Property awards'.
Teaching
I am currently a visiting lecturer for MA Architecture. My teaching include Reading London- a module that looks at how architecture is experienced within a wider urban environment and introduces you to different methodological and representational approaches to the investigation of the buildings and open spaces of the city of London.
Research
My PhD research is a qualitative inquiry of emerging concept of digital placemaking. I am exploring digital placemaking from urban studies point of view to understand how people use digital technologies to co-create urban spaces and to create meaningful attachments with them. It also aims to understand how digital placemaking aids in creating place capital. I am exploring under-explored digital research methods in urban studies mainly Netnography and Internet-mediated studies, combining with in-person data collection through interviews and field observations. My research has received funding from 'Professor Geoffrey Petts memorial Fund' in 2022.
My ongoing research activities include assisting on project EX-TRA – Experimenting with City Streets to Transform Urban Mobility. This research focuses on temporary street experiments that transform the 'streets for vehicles' into people-centred places. The project aims at awareness and vision about the post-car city with the urban living labs in Amsterdam, Bologna, Milan, Ghent, Munich and London, in collaboration with University of Amsterdam, Transport for London, Technical University of Munich, Universitiet Ghent, Gemeente Amsterdam- to name a few. In London Borough of Redbridge, we seek to understand local opinion on the Mobility Hubs that include a 'parklet' seating area as a place to meet and socialise in the vicinity of railway station, with access to multiple transport options.
