About me
Katie Hayes is a teacher and researcher in the area of design theory and history. With a background in exhibitions and history and theory of visual culture, Katie has been teaching in Higher Education for 18 years and is very invested in developing teaching practices that move froward the relationship between theory and practice in Higher Education design and art undergraduate study.
Teaching
Having taught in numerous Universities on a variety of degrees, Katie is a specialist in working with studio practitioners to develop strong and useful relationships between studio practice and contextual studies programs.
Covering topics from design and art history to communication theory and curatorial practice. Katie holds dear the idea that theory and history can be utilised as an empowering force in a makers education.
Research
Active in the area of design research Katie has been working towards a PHD looking at curatorial and critical practice in exhibiting graphic design.
