About me
George is a Doctoral Researcher studying technology use, with a focus on video gaming, and the impact of motivations on psychological correlates of well-being and ill-being (including stress).
George aims to use a variety of methodological techniques during his studies including quantitative online surveys and qualitative interviewing.
Teaching
George has led several seminars on Level 4 modules including 'Individual Differences' and 'Biological Psychology' since 2022.
Research
George's research focuses on the psychology of video games, notably the motivations for video game play and how these motivations can affect psychological health factors such as stress and well-being. The core theoretical basis for his research is the Self-Determination Theory (Ryan & Deci, 2000) and the Uses & Gratifications theory (Katz et al., 1974).
Two quantitative online research studies have been conducted so far as part of his PhD, with a third planned utilising qualitative interview methods and reflexive thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2021).
