Stuart has been teaching art since graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1999. He runs various reading groups in post-medium art practice and psychoanalytic studies.
Research
Stuart Cumberland has lived and worked in London and has been making paintings for over twenty-five years. The last paintings Stuart made focussed on ways of making pictures–process–and images related to photography and studio based activity as ways to create 'companionship'. His work is been exhibited internationally.
Since stopping painting Stuart has been training towards working as a psychoanalyst. His research involves writing texts for popular films and setting up discussion groups with film screenings.
