Dr Jason Chu

I joined the University of Westminster as a Lecturer in Life Sciences in 2023, having spent the last two years in teaching positions at Manchester Metropolitan University and University of Manchester with a focus on inclusive and active learning. Using evidenced-based research on effective teaching practices, I have run sessions formed around flipped learning framework, use of eLearning Technology (Mentimeter and Padlet), retrieval memory and collaborative problem solving. This is exemplified by my certification for Fellowship of Higher Education Academy.

Prior to this, I completed my PhD research on The Role of ERK5 Signalling in Macrophage Behaviour and Wound Healing, with the Finegan Lab at the University of Manchester. I have an MSci Degree in Immunology from the University of Glasgow, where I first learnt about the intricate world of the immune system and its role in safeguarding our health. As part of my degree, I attained an industrial placement year at GlaxoSmithKline where I worked collaboratively on an Antibody Fc Engineering Development project with Zymeworks.

With a research background in Immunology, I am now channelling my focus towards pedagogy and social responsibility. I am here to support student learning and get the best out of your academic career.
