About me
Dr Efthimia Bilissi has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster since 2004. She is the Director of Learning, Teaching and Quality at the Westminster School of Media and Communication and the Communication Pathway Leader for the BA Digital Media course. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and was an Academic Professional Development Fellow at the Centre for Education and Teaching Innovation (CETI) at the University of Westminster from 2022 to 2024.
She has an MSc in Digital Imaging and a PhD in Imaging Science from the University of Westminster. Her doctoral research was focused on the perceived quality of displayed images viewed across the Internet. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.
Dr Bilissi is an Accredited Imaging Scientist (AIS ARPS) of the Royal Photographic Society. She is the editor and co-author of ‘Langford’s Advanced Photography’, 7th and 8th editions, which have been translated into several languages, and a contributing author of the ‘Manual of Photography and Digital Imaging’, 10th edition.
Teaching
Efthimia Bilissi has teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in areas which include digital media, imaging technologies, colour theory, colour management, project planning, and research methods, and has several years of experience supervising final-year projects and dissertations.
Research
Dr Bilissi's research interests are in the areas of imaging systems, and image quality and has a special interest in the perceived quality of displayed images. She is also member of the Royal Photographic Society, and the Society of Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T).
