About me
I joined the Centre for the Study of Democracy (CSD) in 2023 as a Westminster Research Fellow, having completed my PhD in Politics at CSD in 2022. My postdoctoral research focuses on the political economy of oil and gas in Ethiopia's Somali region. Additionally, I continue to build on my doctoral work, exploring themes of dissenting nationalisms, post-war governance, and transitional justice in the Horn of Africa. I am also a Research Associate with the Peace and Conflict Resolution Evidence Platform (Peace-Rep) Somali Programme at the London School of Economics (LSE), focusing on emergent conflict dynamics and peace agreements across the Somali regions, including Somalia, Somaliland, and Ethiopia's Somali Re

Research
My research interests include: Critical international relations theory and practice, with a particular focus on the politics of natural resource governance, post-war governance, gender and war, and the processes of nation and state-building in the Horn of Africa. I am particularly interested in how these dynamics intersect with broader questions of sovereignty, identity, marginality, and political economy in fragile contexts.
