Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose to pursue the Cyber Security and Forensics MSc at the University of Westminster because of its emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. The programme's interdisciplinary approach, combining computer science with ethics and other fields, appealed to me. This well-rounded education provides a comprehensive understanding of the interconnections among law, business, technology, and human behaviour, which is essential in the intricate field of cyber security.

How has your experience been studying in London?

Studying in London has been an enriching experience. The city's thriving cultural scene, from world-class museums to vibrant nightlife venues, offers constant inspiration and new discoveries. I've enjoyed exploring the distinct neighbourhoods, each with its unique energy, while balancing my studies and taking advantage of everything this majestic city offers.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

My major highlight has been the rapid progression from conceptual foundations to practical skills application during my one-year course. The fast-paced structure catalyses proficiency and perspective, allowing me to quickly build upon theoretical knowledge and apply it in tangible ways.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The lecturers are readily available and provide excellent academic support. They genuinely care about students' success and are invested in our educational journeys. They offer personalised feedback, study advice, and coaching, whether through formal office hours or informal conversations after classes.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

One of the stand-out facilities associated with my Cyber Security and Forensics MSc course is the state-of-the-art Networking Lab equipped with advanced infrastructure for hands-on learning. The freedom to tinker with enterprise-class tools provides skills and perspectives that are challenging to attain in typical classrooms.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service.

I have regularly attended events organised by the University Careers and Employability Service, such as annual job fairs and employer visits, to understand hiring expectations and make connections through networking. Their CV and LinkedIn workshops have been instrumental in helping me revamp my professional profile.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course.

Outside of my coursework, I have actively engaged in various activities and events, which has been an enjoyable experience. Meeting new people and participating in different events has been a fantastic opportunity to socialise and broaden my horizons.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

I advise someone considering studying at Westminster to make the most of their time by getting involved with one of the many clubs, groups, activities, or facilities available. The university offers many student-run groups covering diverse interests, from sustainability and technology to chess, music, and dance. I recommend visiting the university website and student experience portals to explore these opportunities. Attend their gatherings or try out a few until you find one that aligns with your interests. You'll quickly realise how easy it is to make lifelong friends and build deep connections with people from different departments.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The most memorable aspect of being a University of Westminster student, especially as an international student who has travelled a great distance, has been the friendliness and acceptance of my fellow students and faculty. The inclusive environment has made my experience genuinely fulfilling.
