Who we are
Our professionally trained counsellors/mental health practitioners help people from many different backgrounds and cultures. The counsellors work according to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Code of Ethics and Practice.
Our staff are happy to talk to you about anything that’s bothering you, from an inability to study, poor concentration and depression, to relationship problems and bereavement.
We understand it may be difficult to ask for help, but we encourage you to get in touch. All sessions are confidential – see our code of practice on confidentiality and data protection on our Counselling and mental health advice - privacy statement page.
How we can help
Register for support
The Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service is now using a system called Engage2Serve (E2S) to manage student referrals. We hope that this new system will streamline our current processes, thereby reducing our waiting times.
How to register
If you would like counselling/mental health advice, you can register with the service by logging in to the E2S portal. Please use your regular University login details, e.g. [email protected] and your password.
You will find the registration form on the E2S homepage under 'Forms'. Please let us know if you have any difficulties finding/completing the form.
Some of the fields on the form will be auto-populated, pulling data from your University student record, e.g. name, student ID number, but you'll need to fill in the rest of the document.
Receiving your appointment time
Please note that you won't be able to book your own appointments via E2S, so please don't worry if you cannot see any available session slots.
After you submit the registration form, you'll be offered the next available assessment appointment. This appointment will last approximately 50 minutes, and its purpose is to work out the best way of helping you. This may include further help from this service or other services, both within and outside of the University.
The portal will allow you to communicate with the service, keep track of your appointments, ask any questions, etc.
Once we've received your completed form, all further communication will be sent through the E2S system. Please ensure you look out for email notifications from E2S, and log in to the system to respond. Please also check your junk mail regularly in case any of our emails end up there.
Further assistance
If you need further help with E2S or have any other questions, email us on [email protected].
