Westminster surpasses £6,000 charity donation target as part of its National Student Survey campaign

The mental health charity Student Minds will receive £6,262 thanks to our Westminster final year undergraduates who completed this year’s National Student Survey.

The annual National Student Survey (NSS) offers every final year undergraduate student in the UK the opportunity to provide feedback on their course and experience at their institution.

The survey, which runs from January to April, enables Westminster students to share their thoughts and experiences of the University, helping us to improve the experience for both current students and those who will join Westminster in the future.

This year, Westminster pledged to donate £2 per completion of the NSS to the mental health charity Student Minds. 3,131 Westminster final year undergraduates completed the survey and helped us reach a total of £6,262 in donations for the charity.

Student Minds is a charity close to our Westminster values, empowering students across the UK to build their own mental health toolkit, and support themselves and their peers through university life and beyond.

At Westminster, wellbeing is one of our key priorities, and we’re committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where all our students can fulfil their potential.

Student Minds CEO Yeme Onoabhagbe said: “From all of us at Student Minds, we are sincerely grateful for the University of Westminster’s incredible initiative this year through the NSS that has raised over £6,000 to help fuel our mission.

“This donation will assist us in supporting the health sector, higher education sector and government to work with students when making decisions that impact them, through programmes such as the University Mental Health Charter and our research. We also create and curate resources, stories and tools to empower students to build their own mental health toolkit to support themselves and their peers through university life and beyond. This includes online programmes such as Student Space and the Student Minds Blog, and our workshops delivered by university staff across the country.

“Westminster’s support truly means the world to us and will have a profound impact on our ability to further improve universities communities so that no student is held back by their mental health.”

The National Student Survey is conducted annually across all publicly funded Higher Education Institutions in the UK. The results of this year’s survey will be available in July 2024.
