The University wishes Eid Mubarak ahead of Eid to all of our students, colleagues, alumni and friends who will be celebrating.
Eid al-Fitr or Festival of Breaking the Fast, is a religious celebration observed by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the month-long dawn to sunset observance of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.
Eid al-Fitr is usually marked by attending a morning prayer in one’s finest clothes, and it can last for up to three days or an entire month depending on different cultures and countries.
Subject to confirmation by local moon sighting, Eid al-Fitr 2023 in the UK has been calculated to begin at sunset on Thursday 20 April and will carry on throughout Friday 21 April, however some Muslims may follow other timings.
