Transformation in Students Survey: initial trends released

The Transformation in Students Survey is designed to gain further insight into students’ development during their time at Westminster. Findings can help us to further develop and signpost student resources for personal and professional development.

Initial findings

The survey was designed to track individuals’ year-to-year progress. However, as the survey was recently launched, we compared the results of first-year and final-year students to give a sense of emerging trends.

The survey explored more than 30 statements which were grouped into ten areas of core skills and personal development. Participants were asked to self-report how strongly they agreed or disagreed with each of the statements.

We found that:

  • In eight of the ten areas of core skills and personal development, final-year students self-report higher levels of agreement than first-year students who participated in the survey
  • The areas which saw the largest difference between final-year students and first-year students included ‘confidence’ (+13.9%) and ‘coping skills’ (+10.2%)
