Ramadan, also spelled Ramadhan, Ramazan, Ramathan or Ramzan, occurs on the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, and marks the month the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammed. The celebration is observed by Muslims worldwide and comprises of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

Celebrate Ramadan
All colleagues and students attended our Welcoming Ramadan event as part of World in Westminster Café series on Thursday 7 March, in Fyvie Hall at our Regent Campus.
This event was open to those of all faiths and none. Muslim students and colleagues came together to talk about their favourite parts of this spiritual time and share an understanding of each other. Attendees listened to nasheeds, enjoyed delicious food from all over the world, heard about the origins of the month and took part in a Ramadan quiz.
