The Language Conversation Scheme (LCS) offers a unique opportunity to connect our diverse multilingual community at Westminster. Whether you want to practise your speaking skills or volunteer as a mentor, this is your chance to get involved!
1. Volunteer as a Language Mentor
Are you fluent in a language? As a volunteer, your role is vital to the scheme's success. Volunteers provide at least one hour of conversation practice per week (term time only), helping learners improve their language skills in a personalised one-to-one setting.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Help someone improve their language skills in a one-to-one setting
- Share insights into your culture and language
- Connect with our vibrant, multilingual student and staff community
- Strengthen your CV with valuable skills in communication, teaching, and leadership
- Earn points towards the Westminster Employability Award
2. Join as a Language Learner
Are you studying a language and looking to improve your speaking skills? Learners will be paired with fluent speakers for 30 minutes of weekly conversation practice. This is an excellent opportunity to boost your fluency, pronunciation, and confidence in a practical and engaging way.
As a learner, you will:
- Practise your language skills with a fluent speaker at no cost
- Receive personalised, one-on-one practice sessions tailored to your needs
- Improve your fluency, pronunciation, and cultural understanding
- Join a supportive, multicultural learning community
