Westminster is now piloting a Module AI Assistant (MAIA) in Blackboard that can assist students in engaging with the content provided to them by their tutors in module Blackboard sites.
MAIA is being provided by a company based in Holland called Learnwise which specialises in the development of AI for educational purposes.
The intention is to pilot the use of such Chatbots in several modules from all Schools in the University in semester 2.
If the feedback from students and teaching staff is positive and we see that the Chatbot is helping students with their studies, the Chatbot technology can be extended to all modules taught in the University.
